Needs Statement
To address the gap between emerging scientific knowledge and its application in clinical decision-making, learners require structured, high-quality educational programming that reinforces both foundational principles and evolving advances in neurology. This includes regular engagement with current evidence-based guidelines, updates on diagnostic and therapeutic innovations, and case-based discussions that strengthen clinical reasoning. Given the breadth and complexity of neurological disorders, clinicians must also refine their skills in differential diagnosis, neuroimaging interpretation, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Additionally, education should emphasize cost-effectiveness, patient-centered outcomes, and systems-based practice, including strategies to reduce health disparities and improve care delivery. These educational needs align with ACGME and ABPN expectations for competency in medical knowledge, patient care, practice-based learning, and systems-based practice, with the overarching goal of improving patient outcomes, satisfaction, and clinical practice patterns.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures and case presentations.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Implement a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders.
- Integrate current clinical guidelines and standards into neurology practice to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes.
- Assess the comparative effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of neurological treatment options to guide value-based care decisions.
- Analyze safety data, patient-centered data, and cost metrics to optimize the quality and efficiency of neurological patient care.
- Identify and address systemic barriers to care, including disparities in access and delivery, to promote equitable patient outcomes.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
