Target Audience and Needs
Physicians, transplant surgeons, fellows, residents, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and social workers who care for transplant and ventricular assist device recipients need to receive regular updates on transplantation techniques, related therapies, and post-transplantation medical care. The series will review such topics as cadaveric organ donation, transplantation ethics, and the cost of organ preservation. The series also aims to improve the quality of care for transplant and ventricular assistant device recipients by identifying, evaluating, and adopting new processes of care.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Review trends in transplantation techniques and related therapies.
- Identify and evaluate new methods of transplantation care for organ and medical device recipients.
- Recognize areas of transplantation care that can be improved at the system level.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
