Texas Rebuild: Identifying and Responding to Symptoms of Depression in Children and Adolescents
OVERVIEW
Dr. Busby will discuss identifying symptoms of depression in a primary care pediatrics population. She will educate providers on how to respond to these symptoms and evidence based recommendations providers can make. Dr. Busby will answer questions related to depression.
Target Audience
This activity is for Pediatricians and primary care providers (family practitioners, NPs, PAs) who treat children and adolescents, RNs, LVNs, Social Workers, LPCs, and Administrative leaders.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, the participants should be able to:
- Define depression and evidenced-based interventions used in clinical treatment to treat children and adolescents
- Develop strategies to recognize depressive symptoms and how to distinguish from other common childhood or adolescent problems
- Identify and recommend available community resources and support opportunities to patients who struggle with depressive symptoms
