Overview
Needs Statement
Updating practicing physicians and other health professionals in both the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases/conditions is essential to providing quality care leading to improved patient outcomes. This activity is designed to increase knowledge,improve competence, and enhance performance of the physician learners in practice to ultimately better patient care and outcomes in gastroenterology.
Target Audience
Gastroenterologists, hepatologists, internists, primary care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, fellows, medical trainees and students in the field of Gastroenterology.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Review metabolic dysfunction-associated liver disease (MASLD), including its epidemiology and clinical features.
- Discuss the process of diagnosing MASLD and its staging, including the use of relevant diagnostic criteria and tools.
- Develop effective management strategies for MASLD, including when and how to refer patients to higher levels of care for specialized treatment.
