Needs Statement

Physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals need to receive regular updates on practice guidelines, the latest scientific advances, and translational efforts in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The series aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the learners in select topic areas to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of obstetric and gynecologic disorders. The series will also address unique ethical challenges in the field.

Learning Objectives

Does the Uterine Secretome Play a Role in Ovarian Cancer Initiation?
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
  • Assess the feasibility of implanting endosalpingiosis in the peritoneal cavity of mice.
  • Develop and validate a murine model of implantation to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Utilize the validated model to investigate the mechanisms underlying the implantation of free-floating cells within the female peritoneal cavity.
 
Ultrasound Characteristics, Genetic Diagnoses, and Neonatal Outcomes of Prenatally Detected Omphaloceles
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
  • Explain the importance of concomitant structural anomalies in fetuses with prenatally detected omphalocele.
  • Discuss risk of underlying genetic conditions in fetuses with prenatally detected omphalocele.
  • Review the importance of prenatal detection of omphalocele.
