Needs Statement

Physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals need to receive regular updates on practice guidelines, the latest scientific advances, and translational efforts in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The series aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the learners in select topic areas to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of obstetric and gynecologic disorders. The series will also address unique ethical challenges in the field.

Learning Objectives

Nonhormonal Treatment of Endometriosis Through Selective Targeting of CSF1R and KIT with Pexidartinib
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
  • Describe endometriosis prevalence, management strategies, and the need for additional therapeutic options.
  • Review receptor tyrosine kinase’s role in targeted therapeutics and the potential opportunity of CSF1R and KIT inhibition in endometriosis.
  • Assess the effects of pexidartinib inhibition of CSF1R and KIT in an endometriosis cell model.
Gm614: A Novel X-Linked Gene Associated with Male Factor Infertility in Mice
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
  • Discuss the background of the Gm614 knockout mouse project.
  • Review specific aims for each experiment done to characterize Gm614.
  • Recognize experiments currently ongoing with respect to the Gm614 knockout mouse project.
  • Summarize findings and discuss the clinical impact of the research project.
