Needs Statement
This series aims to support coaching in academic medicine as an important modality for learner-directed improvement in performance, professional relationships, communication skills, and personal satisfaction. The series will also demonstrate coaching as a useful tool for promoting faculty development and optimizing personal and professional potential.
Target Audience
Physicians, medical students, fellows, and residents.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Examine coaching as a way to optimize wellness and to prevent and mitigate burnout.
- Relate coaching skills to behavior that fosters rapport and team wellness.
- Identify several strategies to optimize wellness using coaching skills.
