Needs Statement
This series aims to support coaching in academic medicine as an important modality for learner-directed improvement in performance, professional relationships, communication skills, and personal satisfaction. The series will also demonstrate coaching as a useful tool for promoting faculty development and optimizing personal and professional potential.
Target Audience
Physicians, medical students, fellows, and residents.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Define training and work stage-specific factors and explain how they influence coaching across medical training and physician experience.
- Describe the benefits and applications of coaching in the educational and clinical environment.
- State the benefits of coach training to the development of physician-educators and physician leaders.
