Target Audience and Needs

Faculty physicians and trainees in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics who are involved in patient care need to receive regular updates on guidelines and recent advances in the fields of internal medicine and pediatrics. The series aims to address gaps in the care of patients across the age spectrum, particularly of those who have chronic childhood illnesses and are transitioning to adult medical care.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, and panel discussion.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Appraise new subspecialty guidelines relevant to internal medicine and pediatrics and incorporate them into practice.
  • Improve interdisciplinary medical care by evaluating treatment strategies for specific disease entities and identifying mechanisms to implement appropriate policy changes.
  • Apply recommendations for evaluating and managing clinical care problems, particularly those of children with chronic childhood conditions who are transitioning to adult medical care.
  • Design educational opportunities to advance the career development of medicine-pediatrics practitioners.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
