Target Audience and Needs

Physicians, residents, fellows, and community physicians need to be regularly updated on advances in pathology, as well as the clinical activities in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussions.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

• Incorporate perioperative patient blood management into clinical practice.
• Effectively manage heparin-induced thrombocytopenia in hospitalized patients with cardiovascular disease.
• Manage anticoagulation for patients on ECMO.
• Address special transfusion needs in hospitalized patients with cardiovascular disease.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
