Target Audience and Needs
Physicians, physician assistants, fellows, nurse practitioners, residents, and medical students need to be regularly updated with new advances and guidelines in geriatric and palliative medicine and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures and case presentations.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Implement strategies for the effective management of the multiple conditions experienced by older adults with multimorbidity
- Apply the appropriate guidelines for the management of common symptoms experienced in palliative care, with a particular emphasis on the safe management of symptoms in older patients.
- Manage common geriatric syndromes in the context of functional status, quality of life, and patients’ care goals.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
