Program Overview

The program will include two session to address the following domains/competencies. The focus of the first workshop is on recognizing and responding to discrimination during clinical encounters (practice-based learning, patient care, interpersonal and communication skills). As social injustice awareness has increased since 2020, it is important to not only recognize racism and other prejudices, but also be prepared to respond and support others to maintain a psychologically safe environment. This workshop aims to provide a toolkit that will promote a safe, inclusive work environment while still optimizing care of the patient during these high stakes, emotional events. The second workshop will introduce narrative medicine as a tool to recognize and address psychosocial stress in the workplace (interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism).
