Overview
The severity of tics in patients with Tourette’s Syndrome can vary over time making it difficult to recognize the clinical manifestations. Physicians need to be aware of the various manifestations in order to improve patient care. Comorbid attention deficit or hyperactivity disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder are likely to influence the long-term adaptive outcomes of individuals with Tourette’s Syndrome. It is important to also be aware of these co-morbidities and how to best treat them in a patient with Tourette’s Syndrome. This activity consists of educational opportunities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients with Tourette’s Syndrome. As a result of changes both in medicine and society, opportunities are needed to better understand growth in scientific knowledge, the expansion in the availability and efficacy of medical technologies, and new organizational arrangements in the provision of services. |
