Overview
Research needs to investigate the models of pain and treatment in different cultural groups to allow us to understand how pain is presented and how beliefs and expectations about treatment can be used with practical solutions and effective evidence based pain management.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Describe and evaluate the healing modalities used in treating persons with chronic pain disorders.
- Describe pain and pain management health disparities in the United States.
- Recognize the clinician’s role in addressing pain management health disparities through research and policy.
- Advocate the need for racial justice and health equity for pain management patients.
