Needs Statement

Primary care physicians (PCPs) currently lack appropriate knowledge and competence as it relates to screening, assessment, and provisions of care for youth with mental health disorders. This professional practice gap is largely due to inadequate exposure in medical training and is compounded after training due to inadequate mental health resources such that primary care physicians are frequently the first and only source of assistance for youth and families who are suffering from a mental or behavioral health disorder.

Location

Please check the individual session for location or broadcast availability.

  • Explain to youth and families the rationale for evidence informed treatment recommendation for common mental health disorders in primary care.
