Optimal Timing of Referral for Liver Transplantation
Overview
Liver transplantation is the standard of care therapy for patients with end stage liver disease. This CME program will discuss the medical indications and optimal timing for referral for liver transplant evaluation. Our advanced teams of medical and surgical specialists have an extensive history of utilizing expanded criteria donors which increases the donor pool as well as enable patients to get transplanted in an expedited fashion. A few cases will be reviewed to show the severity of illness in patients who have successfully undergone liver transplantation. In addition, this program will also focus on multidisciplinary treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. The treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma continues to evolve. We will discuss the current options recommended by our advanced team of surgical specialists including hepatobiliary resection, locoregional therapies and liver transplantation.
