Needs Statement
Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students and other healthcare providers across practice areas encounter health care equity issues such as health disparities, social determinants of health, cultural/linguistic competencies, and social justice. The series aims to broaden the awareness of learners in these topic areas provide strategies to address these issues as they arise.

Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students and other healthcare providers.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
List the social and structural determinants of health equity.
Identify how cultural and racial differences can manifest as social determinants of health.
Discuss the burden of social determinants on healthcare quality.
Formulate possible interventions to address social determinants of health including recruitment and retention of diverse faculty.
