International Tropical Medicine Case Conference (June 23, 2023)
Needs Statement
Clinicians in the United States, including infectious diseases specialists, internists, pediatricians, surgeons, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents, and medical students, lack experience with the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of tropical diseases. This case conference aims to advance the knowledge of learners by hosting international experts who will offer evidence-based guidance on tropical diseases, particularly those emerging in the subtropical and tropical parts of the United States and those detectable among U.S. immigrants, visitors, and travelers from foreign tropical regions. The case conference also aims to promote an international collaborative approach to tropical medicine, enhance the quality of care for patients with tropical diseases, and improve patient outcomes.
Target Audience
Physicians, medical students, fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers.
Learning Objectives

Describe the general epidemiology of common tropical diseases, including the populations most at risk in the United States and globally.
