Needs Statement

This evidence-based menopause course is designed to directly address educational needs among primary care and OB/GYN clinicians by delivering focused, clinically relevant, and guideline-driven education. Many clinicians report limited formal training in menopause, resulting in gaps in diagnosis, risk assessment, and management—particularly regarding hormone therapy (HT), nonhormonal options, and individualized care. The course targets these deficiencies through a structured curriculum grounded in current evidence and national guidelines. Core content includes the physiology of menopause, accurate identification of vasomotor and genitourinary symptoms, and differentiation from other conditions. It provides clear, up-to-date guidance on HT, including indications, contraindications, risk stratification, and route/dose selection, while addressing persistent misconceptions that contribute to underuse. Nonhormonal therapies and management of patients with obesity, mental health issues, and pelvic health concerns are also emphasized. Content also incorporates health disparities and social determinants of care to address the needs of diverse patient populations.

The course aims to improve clinician competence, confidence, and consistency in menopause care, ultimately closing critical knowledge gaps and supporting high-quality, evidence-based practice.
