Needs Statement
A course designed for physicians, trainees, and allied health professionals with interest or clinical practice in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This course will serve as an update on latest diagnostic and therapeutic issues in GI and Hepatology. This program has been developed using a combination of lecture and case based curriculum designed to serve as an intensive review tool for GI and Hepatology Board Certification/Re-Certification Examination in 2025.
Target Audience
Physicians, trainees, and health professionals with interest or clinical practice in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:
- Discuss evidence-based strategies for the diagnosis and management of esophageal disorders, including GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal neoplasms, with emphasis on early detection, risk stratification, and cancer prevention.
- Identify appropriate diagnostic testing and treatment strategies for gastric disorders, including H. pylori infection and gastric cancer, while addressing antibiotic resistance, guideline-based therapy durations, and endoscopic management techniques
- Apply tailored, evidence-based strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of small and large bowel disorders, including IBS-D, IBD, colorectal neoplasia, and functional lower GI disorders, with consideration of patient-specific factors and evolving therapeutic options.
- Compare current and emerging approaches to the diagnosis and management of liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, steatotic liver disease (NAFLD/MASLD), vascular and cholestatic disorders, and portal hypertension, incorporating diagnostic tools, therapeutic options, and transplant considerations.
- Biliary Disease: Develop a systematic approach to diagnosing and managing biliary tract diseases, including gallbladder conditions and cholestatic liver disease, using advanced imaging, guideline-directed therapy, and familiarity with emerging treatments such as obeticholic acid and GLP-1 receptor agonists.
- Describe the classification, diagnostic evaluation, and risk stratification of pancreatic disorders, including pancreatic cysts and pancreatitis, and outline evidence-based management strategies in alignment with current clinical guidelines.

Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias.
