Needs Statement

A course designed for physicians, trainees, and allied health professionals with interest or clinical practice in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This course will serve as an update on latest diagnostic and therapeutic issues in GI and Hepatology. This program has been developed using a combination of lecture and case based curriculum designed to serve as an intensive review tool for GI and Hepatology Board Certification/Re-Certification Examination in 2024.

Target Audience

Physicians, trainees, and health professionals with interest or clinical practice in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the strategies for the diagnosis and management of esophageal dysphagia
  • Discuss current management in standard and advanced therapies of upper gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Identify tailored approaches to optimizing diagnosis medical therapy in chronic diarrhea and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Outline updated guidelines in the management of cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases
  • Develop the appropriate diagnostic algorithm for the management of liver masses
  • Identify appropriate diagnostic testing and appropriate surveillance in the setting of colon polyps and associated polyposis syndrome
  • Summarize evidence-based medicine in the management of acute and chronic pancreatitis
  • Outline the up-to-date management of portal hypertension in the setting of newer non-invasive testing of portal hypertension and associated complications
  • Summarize the principle of patient's autonomy is of paramount importance during the process of informed consent.

Activity Evaluation

Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias.
