Needs Statement

Updating practicing physicians and other health professionals in both the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases/conditions is essential to providing quality care leading to improved patient outcomes. This activity is designed to increase knowledge,improve competence, and enhance performance of the physician learners in practice to ultimately better patient care and outcomes in gastroenterology.

Target Audience

Gastroenterologists, hepatologists, internists, primary care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, fellows, medical trainees and students in the field of Gastroenterology.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the principles of a Learning Health System (LHS).
  • Describe the structure and results of Baylor’s IMAGINE program that incorporates genomic medicine in every day practice.
  • Review polygenic risk score (PRS) and its application in digestive diseases.
