Basic Educators' Course - Summer 2024
NEEDS STATEMENT
Educators may benefit from a better understanding of core theories and concepts, as well as the application of key principles to meet changing educational needs. The Basic Educator Course aims to establish a foundational knowledge of educational theories and principles among its participants. It seeks to create a shared vocabulary and best practices for education across a diverse spectrum of learners and learning contexts.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended for all educators including K-12, college, school of health professions, research educators, and medical educators.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss how the science of learning and universal design applies directly to the teaching and learning environment and design of instruction.
- Utilize backwards design, create learner-centered outcomes, assessments that align with outcomes, and teaching strategies that align with outcomes and assessments.
- Describe how to design a framework and create strategies to integrate technology into education.
EDUCATIONAL METHODS
Lecture, Case Study, Small Group Breakout Session and Virtual face-to-face webinar.
EVALUATION
Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias
