Series date:
Thursday, October 8, 2020 - 1:00pm to Thursday, May 20, 2021 - 5:00pm

Activity Overview: The Center of Excellence in Health Equity, Training and Research Scholars (COE) is structured to be a catalyst for change by providing supplementary training underrepresented minority in medicine (URM) faculty to augment ongoing best practices that will enhance diversity and inclusion at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). A first step in that direction is to equip URM faculty with tools for academic excellence and leadership within the institution so that they can serve as role models for URM students and be advocates of health equity in addressing the persistent health disparities within our resource-challenged communities. The URM faculty and fellows lack technical expertise to conduct their research independently.

Objectives:  At the conclusion of the series, the participants should be able to:

  • Discuss fundamental concepts underlying clinical research methods
  • Identify the classification and utility of clinical research designs
  • Identify the concept of exposure and outcome as well as the relationship
  • Discuss descriptive and analytics approaches in clinical research methods

Target Audience:  Physicians, Medical Students, and Other Healthcare Providers.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Center of Excellence in Health Equity, Training and Research Scholars comprised of junior faculty and clinical fellows.

Accreditation/Credit Designation: Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Baylor College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 84.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
