Target Audience and Needs

Pediatric cardiologists, anesthesiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare providers who treat children with cardiovascular diseases and conditions need to receive regular updates on strategies for individualizing treatment protocols and optimizing patient-centered care.  Using weekly surgical and catheterization cases as a springboard, the series aims to identify markers for team performance, to implement strategies for greater team communication, to promote situational awareness among team members, and to identify opportunities for quality and process improvements in clinical practice.  Overall, the series also aims to create a culture of safety and to improve the medical care and outcomes for children with cardiovascular diseases and conditions.
