Target Audience and Needs

Child neurology fellows, residents, nurses, and advanced practice providers who care for children with neurological disorders need to receive regular updates on advances in neurological research and revisions to diagnostic and treatment guidelines.  The aim of the series is to expand clinical knowledge, increase clinical competence, advance diagnostic skills, and improve implementation of clinical practice guidelines to enhance the quality of care and improve patient outcomes.  Through formal lectures, interactive workshops, review of complex cases, and simulation exercises, the series will also aim to promote greater cultural sensitivity, understanding of complex ethical dilemmas in pediatric neurology, and a multidisciplinary approach to clinical decision-making.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, and literature review.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Participate and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Develop greater sensitivity for pediatric patients of differing ethnicities and cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
