Target Audience

This activity is intended for gynecologic oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, surgical oncologists, clinical pharmacists, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents, and medical students.

Needs Statement

To address persistent gaps between practice and optimal evidence-based care and management for patients with gynecologic malignancies, the interprofessional team must stay current with evolving NCCN guidelines and clinical trial data, enhance their ability to interpret and apply molecular and genetic diagnostics, and improve collaboration across disciplines. To address disparities in clinical trial enrollment, genetic testing, and access to multidisciplinary care, clinicians need to identify candidates for targeted therapies and clinical trials, ensure equitable access to genetic counseling and testing, and integrate advances in surgical and radiation techniques. Additionally, they must address survivorship, long-term toxicities, and quality-of-life concerns, while actively working to reduce disparities in care delivery by implementing structured survivorship care plans that include routine monitoring for late effects of treatment, psychosocial support, and symptom management strategies tailored to each patient’s needs. This tumor board aims to provide a platform to facilitate these efforts by fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, enabling real-time discussion of complex cases, and promoting the integration of evidence-based survivorship practices and equity-focused strategies into routine care. Through shared learning and coordinated multidisciplinary planning, the tumor board advances the ability of the care team to deliver comprehensive, personalized, and equitable care to all patients across the cancer continuum.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include case presentations and panel discussion.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Facilitate effective interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to optimize diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and supportive care for patients with gynecologic malignancies.
  • Apply current evidence-based standards, including the latest National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, to ensure consistent, high-quality care and treatment for patients with gynecologic cancers.
  • Integrate molecular and genetic diagnostics into clinical decision-making to support precision oncology approaches in gynecologic cancer treatment.
  • Evaluate clinical trial opportunities and eligibility criteria to identify appropriate candidates for enrollment, with a focus on expanding equitable access to investigational therapies and reducing disparities in gynecologic cancer care.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
