Target Audience
This activity is designed for urologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, genitourinary pathologists, primary care physicians, residents, fellows, medical students, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners at Baylor College of Medicine and in the Texas Medical Center.
Needs Statement

Healthcare professionals need to be equipped with the ability to develop and apply evidence-based treatment strategies tailored to individual patient scenarios. This includes understanding the impact of care on quality metrics such as admission rates and length of stay and improving communication within multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated decision-making. Additionally, participants must learn to identify and address emerging practice gaps that arise from both expected and unexpected patient outcomes, often revealed during case discussions. These competencies are essential for optimizing therapeutic interventions and enhancing the overall quality of genitourinary cancer care. The Genitourinary Tumor Board brings members of these multidisciplinary teams together to consult on the best treatment options for patients and to map out the continuous care and follow-up of the patient.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include case presentations and panel discussion.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Discuss and generate evidence-based treatment strategies for various types of genitourinary cancer.
  • Describe the effect of care on admission rates, length of stay, and other quality measures.
  • Develop and implement effective intervention strategies based on both expected and unexpected patient outcomes.
  • Incorporate effective communication techniques within a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
