Target Audience and Needs
Primary care physicians actively seek to improve patient care by building competencies to apply evidence-based research, evaluate the strength of recommendations, and conduct initiatives to improve the quality of clinical practices. The series aims to target research literacy among primary care physicians and provide them with skills to engage in research and scholarship. Overall, the series seeks to improve treatment quality and outcomes while building scholarship and collaboration.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures and literature review.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Develop the skills to present scientific information effectively in visual and oral formats.
- Outline the steps to conduct quality improvement research in a clinical environment.
- Distinguish between different kinds of research and scientific methodologies.
- Review the Institutional Review Board process at Baylor College of Medicine.
- Formulate robust clinical questions and develop pathways to study and publish inquiries.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
