Needs Statement
Faculty and trainees in health services research require ongoing education in the foundational and emerging methods of health services research, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, implementation science, and the use of advanced analytics such as natural language processing. There is a need for professional development in designing, evaluating, and disseminating interventions that improve health care quality, safety, and equity at the patient, facility, and population levels. Learners must also develop skills in collaborative research, pragmatic problem-solving, and the application of evidence-based strategies to real-world clinical and organizational challenges. Opportunities to receive feedback on research in progress, learn from visiting experts, and engage in special topics are essential for fostering innovation and continuous improvement in both research and clinical practice. This comprehensive seminar series is designed to increase faculty knowledge and competence in best practices, novel analytics, and pragmatic approaches to improving patient safety, treatment efficacy, and patient outcomes. Additionally, the series provides a forum for faculty to obtain feedback on their work, supporting ongoing performance improvement as clinical and health services researchers.
