Target Audience and Needs

The grand rounds on clinical informatics are designed for physician-informaticists, nurse-informaticists, data analysts, data programmers, health information technology developers, informatics technicians, and healthcare practitioners and trainees. These professionals need to stay informed about the evolving role of informatics in healthcare and the latest advancements in the field. The series will review contemporary methods for utilizing large healthcare datasets to address clinical challenges and enhance patient care quality. It will also demonstrate the integration of findings across health systems, the formulation of plans for quality improvement, and the application of cutting-edge tools like generative artificial intelligence, machine learning, and geomapping to more precisely identify and address patient health issues and the delivery of care.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify healthcare challenges that can be effectively addressed through the analysis and utilization of large datasets.
  • Evaluate informatics tools, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, in solving complex healthcare issues.
  • Design effective informatics systems that enhance healthcare quality and support clinical decision-making processes.
  • Integrate analytical data to drive improvements in clinical outcomes and patient care.
  • Predict disease trajectories by using machine learning techniques to predict the progression of diseases and, thereby improve preventive and therapeutic strategies.
  • Enhance resource utilization through the integration of informatics solutions that would lead to more efficient and effective patient care.
  • Implement quality improvement plans based on data-driven insights and informatics methodologies.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to integrate informatics findings and improve overall health system performance.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
