Target Audience and Needs

Physicians, residents, fellows, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the fields of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Pediatric Surgery, Perinatology, and Family Medicine need to receive regular updates on the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of neonatal disorders and on research activities within the Section of Neonatology. The series aims to increase the knowledge of learners with regard to neonatal treatment modalities, refine neonatal research methodologies, enhance the quality of neonatal care, and improve patient outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures and case presentations.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Assess basic and clinical research studies related to neonatology.
  • Appraise new treatment modalities for application in clinical practice.
  • Evaluate ongoing research activities in the Section of Neonatology.
  • Analyze research activities in all disease areas, such as neonatal physiology, respiratory dysfunction, neonatal infections, and hemolytic disorders of the newborn.
  • Identify means to minimize oxygen exposure and positive pressure in newborns who undergo prolonged use of mechanical ventilation.
Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
