Target Audience
This activity is designed for neonatology faculty, fellows, residents, nursing staff, advanced practice practitioners, social workers, and ancillary staff.
Needs Statement
Healthcare professionals need ongoing, case-based education that explores ethical principles and strategies for navigating cultural and religious differences. Education should also focus on understanding how social structures within medicine impact ethical dilemmas and how to mitigate these effects. The implementation of structured, interprofessional discussions facilitated by clinical ethicists has been shown to improve ethics quality at all organizational levels, including decisions and actions, systems and processes, and institutional culture. This series aims to foster early identification of ethical conflicts, continuous education, and improved team communication, ultimately enhancing the ability of healthcare professionals to identify, prevent, and resolve ethical challenges in neonatology. Regular case discussions aim to ensure depth and continuity in learning.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures and case presentations.
