Target Audience
This activity is designed for practicing internists, medical subspecialists, residents, medical students, and advanced-practice providers.
Needs Statement

Internal medicine and medical subspecialty healthcare providers require up-to-date knowledge and enhanced competence in both inpatient and outpatient settings, particularly regarding the application of clinical practice guidelines. There is a need for education that emphasizes evidence-based management of commonly encountered conditions, such as hypertension including acute care management, kidney disease, and the safe use of contrast agents in patients with renal impairment. Additionally, providers need guidance on optimizing clinical education for trainees and incorporating emerging tools like artificial intelligence into practice. Addressing these needs will support higher guideline adherence and improved clinical performance, directly impacting patient care quality.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, panel discussion, and audience response.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • List potential ways to incorporate artificial intelligence into clinical practice and medical education.
  • Identify the most up-to-date clinical guidelines related to use of contrast agents for radiology studies utilizing contrast agents in patients with chronic kidney disease, inpatient management of elevated blood pressure, and use of SGLT2 inhibitors in a variety of clinical situations.
  • Incorporate evidence-based medical treatment for a variety of commonly encountered conditions in everyday clinical practice, including hypertension, kidney disease, hypercapnic respiratory failure, obstructive sleep apnea, and chest pain.
  • Describe strategies to optimize education in the clinical setting when working with trainees, including residents and students.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
