Target Audience and Needs

Gastroenterologists, hepatologists, fellows, residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care practitioners need to be regularly updated on the advances in guidelines, basic science and clinical research, management strategies and standards of care in gastroenterology and hepatology. The series aims to increase knowledge and skills of the learners in these topic areas in order to enhance the quality of care and improve patient outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, and literature review.  


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the epidemiology and new therapeutic approaches in the shifting world of hepatology.
  • Develop a treatment approach to patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and other esophageal disorders including lifestyle modifications, medical therapy, endoscopic interventions, and surgery.
  • Discuss evolving endoscopic techniques and options for esophageal, gastric, and colorectal polyps and other neoplastic lesions.
  • Evaluate and incorporate the guideline and evidence-based management of patients on antithrombotic agents with GI adverse events or who are undergoing endoscopy.

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
