Target Audience and Needs

Faculty physicians and allied health practitioners actively involved in patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting at BTH, HHS, BCM CHI St. Luke's, the VA, and the Baylor Clinic need to be updated on strategies for implementing team-learning techniques, synthesizing the literature on health and marijuana, and analyzing effective transitions of care. The series aims to broaden the awareness of learners in these topic areas and enhance their skills to improve patient outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Improve the practice of general internal medicine by learning new advances in internal medicine.
  • Appraise and apply new subspecialty guidelines relevant to the practice of general internal medicine.
  • Improve the practice of interdisciplinary care of medicine.
  • Summarize evidence-based changes in the medical literature and the practice of internal medicine in order to continue to improve their fund of knowledge and ability to teach both
    graduate and undergraduate medical learners.
  • Analyze local data on quality issues relevant to hospital discharge and be able to summarize evidence-based strategies to enhance patient safety upon hospital discharge.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
