A Comprehensive Approach to Nephrolithiasis

In this presentation, Dr. Wesley Mayer, M.D. from the Scott Department of Urology introduces the topic of nephrolithiasis, including pertinent anatomy and disease etiology.

Dr. Jingyin Yan, M.D. from the Section of Nephrology discusses the medical evaluation and treatment of nephrolithiasis.

Target Audience

This CME/CE activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, residents, fellows, and community providers.

Faculty and trainees within the Department of Medicine who are involved in the care of patients need to be regularly updated with the recent advances and guidelines in the fields of internal medicine and quality improvement to increase clinical knowledge, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Summarize the evidence on the role of antivirals and immunomodulators in COVID-19 management.

  • Describe the clinical presentation of mild-to-moderate COVID-19.

  • Illustrate atypical presentations of COVID-19.

  • Describe the clinical symptoms of COVID-19 as associated with pathophysiology.

  • Explain the individualized approach that COVID-19 patients require to be managed in the ICU.
