Mechanisms of Endocrine Therapy Resistance in Breast Cancer

In this presentation, Dr. C. Kent Osborne, Professor, Department of Medicine and Director of Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, discusses the evolution of breast cancer treatment during his career. He provides an overview of the role of endocrine therapy in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. Dr. Osborne highlights the role of crosstalk between estrogen receptor and growth factor receptor signaling pathways in the development of resistance to endocrine therapy.  He also evaluates novel ways to target the estrogen receptor to improve endocrine therapy or to reverse resistance to standard endocrine therapy in breast cancer.

Target Audience

This CME/CE activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, residents, fellows, and community providers.

Faculty and trainees within the Department of Medicine who are involved in the care of patients need to be regularly updated with the recent advances and guidelines in the fields of internal medicine and quality improvement to increase clinical knowledge, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.
