Target Audience and Needs
It is essential for faculty, residents, medical students, and clinical staff to keep abreast in topics such as medical ethics and opioid and pain management specifically associated with obstetric and gynecological patients in order to deliver optimal patient care. This series is designed to develop a greater awareness among participants on how to recognize, analyze and respond to these situations.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Identify best practices for prescribing opioids and pain management strategies in obstetric and gynecology patients.
- Demonstrate ethical dilemmas and identify resolution to difficult ethical issues that present in patient care.
- Identify potential fetal and neonatal harms and benefits of opioid addiction treatment during gestation.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
