Target Audience and Needs
Faculty, residents, medical students, nurses, and advanced practice providers need to be regularly updated with the knowledge and strategies that can enable them to identify and reduce medical errors at the provider and system levels in order to improve patient outcomes.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Identify the type of medical error(s) for each case.
- Incorporate strategies for mitigating harm from each error identified.
- Summarize and implement error reduction strategies at the system level.
- Summarize and implement error reduction strategies at the provider level.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
