Target Audience and Needs

Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students, and other surgical subspecialties need to be regularly updated on advances in surgical care and clinical practices that will aid them in performing a variety of surgical procedures to improve the patient care experience and practice efficiency.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussions.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of new concepts in the care of surgical patients, either technical or theoretical, and apply to clinical practice.
  • Assess the most recent evidence regarding surgical care and determine its applicability to patients in clinical practice.
  • Compare and contrast the standard of care to proposed innovative care and critically appraise the risks and benefits of change for patients requiring surgery.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
