Needs Statement
The aim of this series is to improve provider knowledge and willingness to care for adolescents and adults with Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD). This will be an ECHO style series and learners will be able to attend virtually. Each session will include a brief lecture from experienced clinicians on a common primary care topic for the IDD population followed by a patient case with participant discussion to develop practice strategies for primary care teams.
Target Audience
Practicing physicians (internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine), nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers seeing individuals with IDD in the community

- Explore ways to adapt preventive care exams and screenings to the IDD population.
- Develop strategies to support patient navigation and care coordination for the IDD population throughout the lifespan.
- Identify strategies to discuss mental health and reproductive health with the IDD population.
