Needs Statement
There is a clear need for training healthcare providers on the use of SIMPL (Society for Improving and Measuring Procedural Learning) as a computer or mobile-accessible evaluation tool. Education should focus on how to conduct timely, structured feedback sessions immediately following surgical procedures. Learners must understand the value of direct feedback in enhancing procedural learning and clinical performance. Additionally, educators need guidance on implementing best practices for formative feedback to ensure consistency and effectiveness across the department.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Integrate emerging educational tools and programs into clinical practice and workflows.
- Translate current research findings into actionable strategies for clinical decision-making and educational training.
- Demonstrate innovative surgical techniques that contribute to improved patient outcomes and procedural innovation.
- Facilitate effective formative feedback through real-time digital evaluation tools.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
