Needs Statement
This grand round series provides a structured platform to support the educational advancement of physical medicine and rehabilitation professionals by addressing gaps in knowledge, competence, and performance that impact the quality and effectiveness of rehabilitative care. Participants will receive timely updates on neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal interventions, electrodiagnostics, assistive technologies, and evolving clinical guidelines. The series also emphasizes skill development in diagnostic procedures, interventional techniques, and interdisciplinary care planning that address physical, cognitive, and psychosocial aspects of disability. To enhance clinical practice, the sessions will promote consistent use of evidence-based protocols, integration of new technologies, and improved team coordination through expert-led discussions, procedural demonstrations, and interactive learning formats.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, panel discussion, and audience response.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Identify and implement current evidence-based approaches in neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal medicine, pain management, and functional restoration.
- Apply enhanced procedural skills in areas such as musculoskeletal ultrasound, spasticity management (e.g., botulinum toxin injections), and electrodiagnostic testing.
- Coordinate patient-centered care plans that address physical, cognitive, and psychosocial dimensions of disability through effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Incorporate new technologies and therapies into individualized treatment plans and routine clinical workflows to improve patient outcomes.
- Utilize standardized outcome measures to assess patient progress and guide treatment decisions, promoting consistency and quality in rehabilitation care.
Evaluation
