and Needs

The Hematology and Oncology Grand Rounds aims to equip clinicians with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills to integrate rapidly evolving diagnostic and therapeutic advances into patient care for complex malignancies. Providers require enhanced competence in interpreting and applying current clinical guidelines, selecting and sequencing appropriate treatments, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and addressing barriers to optimal outcomes, including disparities in access to high-volume centers, clinical trials, and supportive care. Ongoing education should also foster effective communication, shared decision-making, and awareness of health equity to ensure evidence-based, patient-centered management across diverse clinical scenarios.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures and case presentations.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Describe current advances in the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic and oncologic malignancies, with a focus on emerging therapies and updated clinical guidelines.
  • Analyze clinical scenarios to determine appropriate diagnostic workups and evidence-based treatment plans, integrating recent research findings and guideline recommendations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply updated clinical knowledge in patient care, including the initiation of appropriate therapies, effective communication with interdisciplinary teams, and the management of complex cases requiring multidisciplinary input.
  • Identify barriers to optimal care, including system-level challenges and patient-specific factors, and propose strategies to overcome these obstacles.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
