Endocrinology Fellow Presentations (May 30, 2025)

Needs Statement

Physicians, fellows, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare professionals need to receive regular updates on professional guidelines, advances in basic science and clinical research, and emerging treatment modalities and management strategies for patients with endocrine disorders. The series will explore new models of multidisciplinary care in the field, especially as it relates to patients with cardiometabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. The series aims to expand the knowledge of learners, promote adherence to evidence-based guidelines, enhance the quality of endocrinology care, disseminate best clinical practices, and improve patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

Bone Health in Patients with CDH1 Mutations
At the conclusion of the activity, the participants should be able to:
  • Identify the need to assess bone health in patients with hereditary gastric carcinoma.
  • Manage bone health in patients with CDH1 mutation.
  • Comprehend the effects of gastrectomy on bone health.
Addressing Diabetes Distress: Understanding the Burden and Assessing the Impact of a Behavioral Intervention in Hispanic/Latino Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
At the conclusion of the activity, the participants should be able to:
  • Explain the burden and impact of diabetes distress in patients with diabetes.
  • Identify the factors associated with diabetes distress in a high-risk population living with diabetes.
  • Assess the impact of a behavioral intervention on reducing diabetes distress.
The Metabolic Response to Fructose Ingestion
At the conclusion of the activity, the participants should be able to:
  • Evaluate the metabolic impact of fructose ingestion.
  • Compare the effects of fructose and glucose on circulating factors.
  • Assess research design and methodology in nutritional studies.
