Needs Statement
Pediatric urology professionals require targeted education to address persistent gaps in knowledge, competence, and clinical performance. Rapid advancements in diagnostics, surgical techniques, and interdisciplinary care necessitate structured, recurring educational formats that support lifelong learning and practice improvement. This series incorporates grand rounds focused on contemporary topics and innovations in pediatric urology, journal club sessions that foster critical appraisal of emerging literature and evidence-based practice, and uroradiology case reviews led by radiology experts to enhance imaging interpretation. Clinicians must strengthen their ability to apply current knowledge in complex, multidisciplinary scenarios, particularly when coordinating care with nephrology and radiology teams. To improve clinical performance, the series promotes consistent application of best practices, standardized operative planning, and reflective learning through case-based discussions. By integrating these strategies, the series supports collaborative decision-making, continuous quality improvement, and meaningful changes in professional behavior and patient outcomes.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and audience response.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Analyze current clinical guidelines, research, diagnostic tools, imaging modalities, and multidisciplinary approaches to enhance knowledge of complex pediatric urologic and renal conditions.
- Apply evidence-based knowledge to complex clinical scenarios, including the interpretation of advanced imaging and integration of multidisciplinary perspectives.
- Demonstrate effective interdisciplinary collaboration by engaging in team-based case discussions and shared decision-making with pediatric urologists, nephrologists, radiologists, and allied health professionals.
- Implement standardized protocols for operative planning and perioperative management by reviewing upcoming surgical cases and reinforcing consistent clinical practices.
- Engage in reflective practice and continuous improvement through structured case reviews, outcome analysis, and identification of opportunities to enhance patient care and professional development.
