Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be able to:

  • Review the emotional and behavioral disorders that commonly co-occur (comorbidity) with ADHD.
  • Outline the process of differential diagnosis of complex symptoms in the patient with ADHD.
  • Explain the different levels of severity of comorbidity and which conditions can be successfully managed in primary care.
  • Summarize how the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) can be used to manage complex ADHD through the use of Telephone consultation and Direct Evaluation by a CPAN psychiatrist to guide PCP management 
  • Discuss how different psychotropic medications can be combined with ADHD medications to optimize symptom management.
