Target Audience

Needs Statement

Healthcare professionals involved in breast cancer care require targeted education to address persistent gaps in multidisciplinary coordination, evidence-based decision-making, and timely patient management. This includes enhancing clinician knowledge of evolving treatment algorithms for various breast cancer subtypes, improving their ability to interpret and apply clinical trial data, and strengthening their capacity to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Training should also emphasize strategies to streamline referral processes, reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment, and promote individualized, guideline-concordant care. This series serves as a critical forum to meet these needs by reviewing and evaluating cancer care protocols, treatment algorithms, and clinical trial outcomes. Through this series, participants will develop the competencies necessary to improve consultation practices, facilitate better care coordination, and ultimately enhance patient outcomes across the continuum of breast cancer care.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include case presentations and panel discussion.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

• Utilize current treatment algorithms for various subtypes and stages of breast cancer.
• Apply a multidisciplinary team approach to improve diagnostic accuracy, staging, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
• Critically evaluate ongoing and emerging clinical trials to inform evidence-based decision-making across the continuum of care.
• Implement strategies to expedite referrals and reduce time to treatment for patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer.
• Identify and address barriers to effective multidisciplinary collaboration, including communication gaps and role ambiguity.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
