CommonSpirit Texas Physician Enterprise CME Event 2025

August 23, 2025

NEEDS STATEMENT

There is a critical need for enhancing clinician understanding in areas essential to patient outcomes and healthcare system sustainability. The 2025 Texas CommonSpirit Health CME event will address professional practice gaps affecting primary care and specialty providers in Texas by focusing on updated clinical guidelines, ethical responsibilities, and health economics. Physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners require updated knowledge on a range of clinical and public health topics including asthma, stroke, insomnia, and the effects of screen time on pediatric development. Additionally, mandated ethics and professional responsibility training—particularly related to healthcare economics—is essential to meet the Texas Medical Board and Nursing Board’s continuing education requirements. Modern healthcare economics and employment models have separated physicians and APPs from understanding the financial consequences of their decisions, highlighting the need for education that reconnects clinical practice with its broader system impact. Furthermore, many clinicians have yet to consistently apply updated asthma management strategies, as outlined in the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) 2024 report, requiring targeted instruction to support alignment with current standards of care. The CME event will use didactic lectures delivered by subject matter experts with dedicated time for interactive questions and answers to help clinicians apply updated practices in their day-to-day work across institutions including Baylor Medical, CommonSpirit Health, Texas A&M Health Sciences Center, and other partner organizations.
